Core Engine Release 5.4
February 2026
We upgraded! What's new? Learn more about new features, technical changes and solved bugs in 4App Core Engine.
Note on upgrading: If you skip a version when upgrading, check all release and patch notes in between for important information. They apply cumulative.
Note on individualization: If your 4ALLPORTAL is highly customized or if you installed individual apps, please contact your implementation partner before upgrading. We recommend checking your custom contents, especially layouts and object renderers, carefully after an upgrade.
New Features and Improvements
Dimensions Admin Snap-in
In the new Dimensions admin snap-in (via General system configurations > System settings), you can now create new and manage existing dimensions, e.g. by adding or removing dimension values. Configurations formerly made in the file system can now be made here.
Please note: Changes to existing dimensions should be carefully considered in advance, as they may affect existing metadata and configurations, such as workflows.
Further information: Dimensions documentation
4APQL: Support for Functions
We have added support for the following functions in 4APQL: currentUser, currentRole, getObject. They are helpful, for example, when a reference to the current user is required.

- The metric
4allportal_average_session_durationhas been removed. - The metric
4allportal_number_slow_querieshas been replaced by4allportal_core_slow_queries.
SearchActor: Additional Sort Fields
You can now add additional sort fields to further control the sorting of a search list. This is particularly helpful when there are many identical entries in a result list, such as project name or last name. Based on the additional sort fields, you can control how identical results are displayed, e.g. in descending order by creation date or first name. The additional sort fields work in the background and need to be added to a layout. Further Information: SearchActor Parameters
