DAM Release 5.12
June 2026
We upgraded! What's new? Learn more about new features, technical changes and solved bugs in 4App DAM.
Note on upgrading: If you skip a version when upgrading, check all release and patch notes in between for important information. They apply cumulative.
Note on individualization: If your 4ALLPORTAL is highly customized or if you installed individual apps, please contact your implementation partner before upgrading. We recommend checking your custom contents, especially layouts and object renderers, carefully after an upgrade.
Solved Bugs
- Fix the markups so that deleting the frame only works with the necessary permissions
Patch releases
Version 5.12.1
- Preparing downloads is now significantly faster on network file systems (e.g. NFS): downloaded files and generated ZIP archives are copied and written in large chunks instead of small buffers.
- The chunk size is configured in 4allportal-core via
fourallportal.filesystem.transfer-buffer-size(default16MB) or the environment variableFOURALLPORTAL_FILESYSTEM_TRANSFER_BUFFER_SIZE.
Version 5.12.2
- Fix an error during file processing when a file bean carried properties that are not defined in its module configuration. Such properties are now skipped instead of breaking the update
Version 5.12.3
New Features
IDML Download for InDesign Documents
InDesign documents (.indd) can now be downloaded as IDML files. The IDML derivative is generated during preview generation by the InDesign Server and is offered as an additional download profile in the DAM.
The profile is disabled by default. Enable it per user or group via the new permission Allow IDML Download (file.allow_idml_download). The permission is only available when the indesign-server feature flag is active.
Solved Bugs
Fix deleting a file through the API: the file is now removed from the storage as well, not only from 4ALLPORTAL.
Fix replacing a file writing the new content into a different folder: the target folder is now resolved from the folder the file actually lives in, so the existing file object is replaced instead of a new one being created elsewhere.
Fix the folder reference of files that are imported with a relative path in their name: they are now linked to the folder created for that path instead of the folder the import started from.
Version 5.12.4
- Fix uploaded files with a modification date in the future being skipped during import, which left their file hash unset and prevented dependent workflows from being triggered
Version 5.12.5
Improvements
- All file operations of the file module - copying, moving and stream transfers - now run through buffered I/O with a configurable chunk size. This speeds up uploads, downloads, download package creation, ZIP extraction, document generation and file imports from mounts, and has the largest effect on big files and on network storage, where every small chunk previously cost a round trip
