# Welcome to the Authentication Base Documentation!

Using our authentication providers, you allow accessing the 4ALLPORTAL with external user managements. Users can login to the 4ALLPORTAL using their identity stored centrally in a user authentication service (e.g. in Microsoft Active Directory).

On first login, a user will be created automatically in the 4ALLPORTAL. For all further logins the user is updated with the data from the external system if necessary.

Please note: 4App Authentication Base is always required to install as a basis for one or more of our authentication providers:

After the base installation, you need to install the authentication provider you need and configure it in its own snap-in.
Find the basic configuration valid for all providers here and look for your provider's specific configuration in its documentation.

You may then define a default or chosen provider for login in the Authentication Base snap-in.

# Supported protocols and features

The 4ALLPORTAL has several options to connect with your existing user authentication service as well as with third-party systems.

Our authentication 4Apps support:

  • LDAP and SAML 2.0
  • Windows single sign-on (SSO)
  • user synchronization
  • user, role and language mapping
  • configuring two or more authentication services if you need this

We prefer to use standard providers, but can also work with customer specific.

# Supported CoreEngine version

The 4App Authentication Provider Base is supported starting from CoreEngine version 3.2 or higher.

4App Move

The features of 4App Authentication Base are part of 4App Core Engine from Core version 4.0.
If you work with Core Engine version 4.0 or higher, you do not require to install this 4App.
