# Requirements

To use the 4App Desktop App, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • operating system:
    • Windows: Windows 7 or higher (32 bit or 64 bit)
    • macOS: OS X El Capitan (10.11) or higher (Intel or Apple Silicon)
  • active user access for logging in with the plugin in the 4ALLPORTAL
  • a network drive connection (read/write) to the 4ALLPORTAL root directory (typically, "data", more details)

Network Drive Connection

  • Additional data: The connection with the network drive requires additional connection data for the 4ALLPORTAL server (username and password). One exception may be the use of the Active Directory service within a network.
  • Type of connection: If you host your 4ALLPORTAL yourself, we recommend the following network connection:
    • self-hosted in a container: WebDAV
    • self-hosted without a container: SMB

The 4App Desktop App is supported starting from Core Engine version 3.2 or higher. Core Engine version 4.x or higher requires Desktop App version 4.x or higher.
